How to create your own click funnel

A click funnel is a short chain of pages where each click moves the visitor one step closer to paying or booking, with nothing else on the page to distract them. This article explains how to create your own click funnel for a fixed-price entry offer, such as a paid audit or a strategy session, and take payment inside the funnel. Built on the levelpartner.ai platform, the payment, the contact and the follow-up all land in one record, so you can see who paid, who stopped at checkout and who needs a call.

What a click funnel is for

The term grew up around one vendor's product, but the idea is generic and older than any tool. You strip the website down to a single path. The visitor reads one page, clicks one button, sees the next page, clicks again. Navigation menus, sidebars and footers full of links are removed, because each one is a way out.

For a company of 10 to 250 people, the click funnel earns its place when you sell something with a clear price and a clear outcome. A consultancy selling a two-week diagnostic, an agency selling a paid audit, a mortgage broker selling a fee-based review for complex cases. Open-ended services that need a scoping call first suit a booking funnel better.

Before you start

  • An entry offer with a fixed price, a fixed scope and a stated delivery time.
  • A payment provider connected in Payments, so the checkout page can take cards.
  • The copy for three pages: the offer page, the checkout, and the confirmation.
  • A decision on what happens after payment: an onboarding call, a questionnaire, or both.

Keep the offer small. A click funnel works on first-time buyers who do not know you yet, and the entry price should feel low risk compared with your main service.

How to set it up

  1. Go to Payments, hover over Products and click Products.
  2. Click + Create Product.
  3. Enter a Title, a Description and the price, then click Save.
  4. Go to Sites, open Funnels and click New Funnel.
  5. Build the offer page, then click Add New Page in the Pages drawer for checkout.
  6. Select the checkout step, open the Products tab and click + Add Product.
  7. Use the Product dropdown to select yours, then choose its Price.
  8. On checkout, add a full width section and a one column row.
  9. Click Add Elements (+) and, under Order elements, drag in Two-Step Order.
  10. Add a confirmation page that explains what happens next.
  11. Click Preview to test the order form, then click Publish.

Bump offers and upsells, used carefully

Click funnels often add a small extra at checkout or a second offer straight after payment. These can raise the value of each order. They can also make a professional services firm look like a supplement shop. Use one only if it is a natural extension of the main offer, such as a recorded walkthrough of the audit findings, and never more than one.

What it replaces and the time it takes

Without a click funnel, a paid entry offer usually runs on emailed invoices. Someone agrees to the audit on a call, an invoice goes out, a reminder goes out, and the work starts a week late. The funnel removes the invoicing loop and starts onboarding the moment the payment clears.

Weekly effort is small: 20 minutes to check purchases, abandoned checkouts and the reminder workflow. The real work is monthly, when you read the abandoned checkouts and ask what stopped people.

Illustration: a 30-person consultancy testing a paid diagnostic

Suppose a firm offers a fixed-price two-week diagnostic at £1,500 (an illustrative price). If 220 people reached the offer page in a month, 31 reached checkout and 9 paid, the biggest drop would be between page and checkout. An abandoned checkout reminder that recovered 2 more would bring buyers to 11. If 4 of those went on to a full engagement, the diagnostic would be working as a paid first step.

The common mistake

Copying a consumer-style funnel with countdown timers and fake scarcity. Your buyers are owners and directors, and pressure tactics cost you trust you will need for the larger sale. State the price, the scope and the date the work starts.

When not to use it

Skip the click funnel if your service cannot be priced before a conversation. Forcing a price onto bespoke work either undercharges or scares buyers away. In that case a lead funnel that books a qualifying call is the better shape. It is also a poor fit where regulation requires advice before a fee is agreed, which applies to some mortgage and property services.

Troubleshooting

The checkout page shows no product. The product was created but not attached to the order form step, or it was archived. Open the step, re-select the product and save.

Payments succeed but no welcome email is sent. The workflow is triggered by a form submission rather than a payment event. Change the trigger to the successful payment for that product.

Buyers say the confirmation page was blank. The confirmation step was added after publishing and never saved. Publish the funnel again and test the full path.

Reminder emails reach people who already paid. The abandoned checkout workflow lacks a condition that stops it once payment is received. Add that check before the reminder step.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a separate click funnel tool?

No. The platform builds the pages, takes payment and runs the follow-up, so there is no second tool to connect. If you are comparing builders, judge them on whether the contact, the payment and the follow-up end up in one record.

How many steps should a click funnel have?

Three is enough for most entry offers: offer, checkout, confirmation. Add a step only when it removes a real objection, such as a short page answering the most common question.

Can I build the funnel quickly from a template?

Yes, and that is a sensible start. The guide on how to build a click funnel compares starting from a template with starting blank.

What if people prefer to talk first?

Add a small link on the offer page to book a short call. Some buyers will always want a conversation, and losing them to a missing link is worse than a slightly busier page.
